Drug Trials Neglect Children

I received this article from the International Business Times about Drug Trials Neglect Children in my email today. It is more than a little disturbing.

Some researchers at Children’s Hospital in Boston reviewed nearly 2500 drug trials and found that only 12% of them focused on children. They also found that the relatively few studies that did focus on children tended to be single-center rather than multi-center calling into question their applicability to a more general population.

Are You Tired of Being Sick Yet?

You probably hear almost daily that another one of your friends or co-workers is sick. The media is still pumping up the swine flu even though some medical authorities have said that it has already peaked and has not been the event that it was predicted to be. Personally, I’m tired of hearing about it.

I don’t believe that most people need to get sick, especially not with things like a cold or the flu. None of my immediate family has been sick in over a year, and it isn’t because we live in isolation. I have small kids who go to school every day and are around other sick kids, so they have been “exposed” to whatever is out there, as have my wife and I.

Boost Your Immune System

How is your immune system doing for you?  Right now I am watching to a video from David Wolfe, who is considered to be one of the leading authorities on nutrition,  about how important it is to take care of the immune system.  He spent a good part of the video talking about a specific class of herbs that are very important to boost the immune system.  These herbs are the medicinal mushrooms.  He said that these are the mushrooms that grow on fallen trees.  What they do is work to concentrate certain minerals that the trees have absorbed throughout their lifetime, which can exceed 100 years.

Chemical Interactions in Food Ingredients

I’m with a network marketing company that, among other things, sells a nutritional juice product.  I received an email this morning from my upline that made me think about artificial additives in our food.  Someone had asked our MLM company if they could share the difference between our juice product with the juice product from a competitor.

It turns out that the competitor’s juice, which contains a lot of vitamin C, also contains sodium benzoate as a preservative.  Sodium benzoate can interact with vitamin C and form benzene, an organic solvent that is known to cause cancer and liver damage.

The Benefits of Good Nutrition

Do you know the benefits of good nutrition?  You already know that too much of the wrong foods will make you gain weight, which can lead to a lot of chronic diseases.  Proper nutrition will help you to stay fit and healthy with plenty of energy to do the things you want to do.  Good nutrition goes deeper though.

Do you remember when your mother told you that you are what you eat?  It turns out that she was right.  Did you know that your entire skin is replaced within about a month?  In addition to providing you with the calories to do your daily activities, the nutrition that you take in every day is what your body uses to continuously rebuild itself.
